The reserve is a fenced area, about 48km2 and made up of savanna covered plains, 5 separate hills, and home to mammals, reptiles, and over 175 bird species.
Although famous for its baboons at the front gate, visitors can also see Kob antelope, bushbuck, or monkeys in the sanctuary.
The best time for wildlife viewing is early in the morning, and you can travel the park in a 4X4 vehicle or on foot with an armed escort from the early hours to 5:00 PM. The Reserve is located on the Tema-Akosombo road, and visitors can comfortably spend the night in the hills.
